After sitting abandoned and run down, the Hospital was sold in July 2006 then again in 2008. The buildings are slowly being demolished with most already being torn down from inside out. The Nurses Quarters was the first to go in late 2009. Much damage to buildings had already taken place due to no maintenance and vandals stripping the buildings for what ever they could take, by 2010 the place was pretty derelict. The Maximum Security, even though it was the last part to close, due to its popularity with visitors after it's closure left it in a bad shape and now the Army have blown it apart.
There is only a few buildings worth saving. The new owner will use the property to farm as he owns the surrounding land. This will ofcourse put a end to the infamous Lake Alice Hospital!
