Kia Ora. My name is Robyn. I’m originally from Durban, South Africa but moved to east Auckland when I was 21, and have now recently moved down to beautiful Pokeno. I have a little boy called Jaxon who attends Urban Explorers and loves it here and has made lots of new little friends.
In my spare time I paint, draw children's’ illustrations along with lots of outdoor adventures with our Jax.
I’m really enjoying working here and getting to know all of the children & their families & being part of such a special team :)
Fantails Room head Kaiako - Kathy Livingstone
I’ve lived in our community for 23 years. I have four adult children and five grandchildren. I have worked as an ECE teacher since 2001 and with a variety of different age groups.
I enjoy spending time with my family & riding motorbikes with my husband. I am looking forward to spending time getting to know your children and you, and meeting their individual needs. I believe all children are capable and competent when provided with a trusting and caring environment through quality responsive relationships and an inclusive nurturing philosophy and environment.
Tuis Room head Kaiako - Elaine
Hi, I’m Elaine and I’m originally from the Philippines where I gained my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and has been an early childhood teacher for 8 years back home. In 2010, I moved to New Zealand and started as a teacher-in-training while I was pursuing my degree in Graduate Diploma in Teaching ECE. In 2012, I completed my qualification in ECE and I have been a head teacher in preschool in one of the centres in Auckland for the past 8 years.
This year, me and family decided to move down to this amazing place, Pokeno, and I feel so lucky being part of the Urban Explorers team.I believe in respect as a core value which guides my daily interactions with children, families and colleagues. I consider respect for others to be the foundation to empower each and every child’s identity, individuality and uniqueness. I also believe that in creating a fun, safe, engaging and exciting environment for the children, they are able to reach their full potential through exploration and discovery.
Outside of work, I enjoy running, blogging, cooking, baking, gardening and spending time with my family.
