Our Philosophy
Urban Explorers values the importance of relationships with children and their families. We focus on being part of a learning community where children are encouraged to explore the natural world through play as we learn about who we are, where we are from and what we are capable of achieving.
Through real life experiences we encourage our children to build on their inner and social confidence, build a natural caring curiosity for the world around us and build respectful trusting relationships, all while becoming independent and empowered learners.
As educators we provide a safe and secure learning environment which is nurtured through the inclusiveness of children’s evolving interests, being adaptable to children’s natural talents, and recognising the importance in community and Whānau involvement of each child’s learning journey.
With this in mind, our activities within the centre align with the principals of Te Whaariki.
